The City of Fredericksburg, in partnership with the Nimitz Rotary Club, is replacing the old cross and will install a new one this spring with similar characteristics.
Cross Mountain Park is home to Cross Mountain, a marl and limestone hill with an elevation of 1,951 feet.
The park offers several trails, three picnic areas, an overlook and restrooms.
The park is open from dawn until dusk and there is no fee to enter.
